The 2.0 model features a combustion chamber that is 27% larger than the original, a larger doorway, making loading easier and a detachable burner basket, making ash removal exceptionally simple.

What type of fuel does it use?
The Roccbox Wood Burner works best with a kiln dried (sub 20% moisture content) hardwood kindling around 25mm / 1” thick and up to 150mm / 6” long. Gozney Kiln Dried Hardwood can be purchased via Gozney.com. Examples of hardwood would be beech, oak, ash or fruit woods such as apple. Alternatively, charcoal or hardwood briquettes can be used in the burner for maintaining lower temperatures (ideal for roasting meats).
Avoid using any softwoods such as pine as they are sappy and will impact performance, as well as imparting unpleasant flavours on food.
-
How much smoke is produced during use?
Some smoke will be produced during the early stages of firing. However, once the fire has properly established and some heat is present in the oven, the smoke will diminish significantly.
-
What is the fuel consumption like during use?
Fuel consumption will depend on the type of fuel you are using, but a good average would be 1-1.5kg / 2-3.5lb of wood per hour with Gozney Kiln Dried Hardwood.
-
How do I use it?
The Gozney Academy is full of useful videos, including instructional content. View the ‘How to use the Wood Burner 2.0’ video here.
-
How long will it take to get to temperature when using the Wood Burner 2.0?
A number of things, such as the outdoor air temperature, humidity and wind conditions can impact the speed that the oven will get up to cooking temperatures. However, when using Gozney Kiln Dried Hardwood under good conditions, a heat up time of around 40 minutes can be expected.
-
Can it be left outside?
The Wood Burner 2.0 is constructed from high grade stainless steel and is fine to be left outside. However, storing your wood burner out of the elements will help keep it looking shiny and new for longer. The burner can be easily detached from the body of Roccbox, making storage during periods of non-use simple.
